PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Growing up in Brazil, our nation's history, spanning colonization to present times, is ingrained in us. A recurring theme is the plight of the indigenous inhabitants, exploited and oppressed even today. This narrative resonates deeply, exemplifying the contemporary society's disconnect from its roots, heritage, and nature. Despite urban hardships, many remain in cities, highlighting the hubris of a society that, believing itself omniscient, overlooks vast reservoirs of wisdom.
My illustrations are influenced by three facets: Brazilian indigenous patterns, "xilogravura" (Brazilian linocuts), and Brazil's rich myths and legends.
